POST FABREGAS:CHELSEA DOING WELL

Chelsea are currently undergoing a feel-good period as the Blues have bounced backed from the humiliating defeat against Manchester City a few weeks ago. The Blues face Dynamo Kyiv in the return leg of the Europa League on Thursday but have started preparation for the offseason.

According to reports from England, Chelsea are interested in signing Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez in the summer. The Uruguay International has been exceptional for the La Liga outfit in the past two seasons and looks likely to leave at the end of the season.

Celta Vigo have struggled this campaign with the club currently lying in 18th on the League standings with just 11 games remaining.  It is understood that Celta Vigo value the forward at £50 million but this value could be reduced to £25 million if the team suffers relegation at the end of the season.

Gomez is an old fashioned centre forward in the mould of Gonzalo Higuain, strong in the air and able to lead the line. Chelsea are looking to strengthen their squad at the end of the season as the lack of firepower has affected the team this season.

Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata began the season as the top forwards but managed to score just 7 goals between themselves in the league. The arrival of Gonzalo Higuain in the January Window looked to have sorted this problem.

However, the 31-year-old Argentine would represent a short term option as the Blues seek a long-term forward that can move the club forward.  This summer could also see the exit of Willian and Pedro from the team as both players are on the wrong side of 30.

Chelsea have already completed a big transfer as Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic is expected to arrive in the summer in a deal worth £54 million.
